Dr. Vimal Scott Kapoor

Dr. Kapoor is the Harbourfront Medical Travel Medicine & Aerospace Physician.

As an H. Greville Smith Scholar, McGill’s most prestigious scholarship, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University in Montreal. He then served as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar to study at the world-renowned London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in London, England. There, he was awarded his Master of Science and Diploma of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He subsequently was selected to intern at the esteemed World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2002, Dr. Kapoor completed his Doctor of Medicine, MD degree at his home city of Halifax, Nova Scotia at Dalhousie University.

Upon graduation, he was selected to enter Canada’s most prominent Royal College Public Health & Preventive Medicine Program at the University of Toronto. While in the program, he completed extra training in aviation medicine, toxicology, emergency preparedness and travel medicine. Dr. Kapoor completed the Travel Medicine Course under the distinguished Dr. Ron Behrens also at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He further trained in Travel Medicine under the world-renowned Dr. Jay Keystone. Dr. Kapoor is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine. In 2009, he was selected as one of six physicians in Canada for a Canada Space Agency Scholarship to NASA.

Dr. Kapoor is Board-Certified in three specialties: He is Board-certified in Emergency Medicine from the University of Western Ontario, Family Medicine from McMaster University, and Public Health & Preventive Medicine from University of Toronto. Dr. Kapoor was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2009.
He has recently completed his residency in Occupational Medicine in 2015.

Dr. Kapoor served as an Associate Medical Officer of Health. He currently serves as Corporate & Occupational Physician for the Toronto Police Service and Chrysler Corporation. He is also the preferred MedAire provider in Toronto for the aircrew of some of the world’s most respected airlines, such as British Airways, Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and WestJet Airlines. He was appointed FAA Aviation Medical Examiner for the US Department of Transportation and Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medical Examiner. Dr. Kapoor also serves as part-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, and works as an Emergency Physician at Markham-Stouffville Hospital. He was featured in the television docu-drama, “Untold Stories of the ER” for saving a young woman’s life.
